I liked Xfmedia in Xubuntu Dapper.
It played my music, it played my videos, it played my DVDs. I liked it’s simplicity, minimal dependencies (don’t forget libxine-extracodecs for the good stuff), and it’s ease of use.
For Xubuntu Edgy, Xfmedia has been relegated to the universe repository and gxine has been promoted.
Don’t get me wrong, between gxine and Xfmedia there wasn’t a CSS protected DVD I couldn’t watch. Good times.
What am I talking about? Xfmedia; installed in 10 seconds and I’m happy again.
I do like the fact the gxine in Edgy doesn’t have that annoying mini-splash screen.
